Mouth Guards.

Custom-fit protection from impact.

  • 30 minutes for impressions; 1 week to fabricate; 15 minute fitting
  • Every 1 to 2 years for kids (growth); 3 to 5 years for adults
  • All major health funds

A custom sports mouthguard is dramatically more protective than the boil-and-bite version from the chemist, and it actually fits, so kids will wear it. We make them in club colours too.

What to expect

How a mouth guards
appointment runs.

We keep things calm and unhurried. Here's the rhythm you can expect from start to finish, no surprises.

  1. Impressions or scan

We take a model of your teeth, either a quick digital scan or traditional impressions. About 15 minutes.

  2. Fabrication

Your guard is made in a dental lab to fit only your teeth. It usually takes about a week. If you need it for a specific match, tell us and we'll plan around it.

  3. Fitting

We check the fit, trim any spots that feel uncomfortable, and make sure your bite is balanced. You'll wear it home.

  4. Care advice

Rinse after each use, store dry, keep it out of hot cars. We'll show you how to spot when it needs replacing, and remind you at your check-ups.

Common questions

Things people
often ask.

Can't see your question? Call us on (02) 9570 4044 and we'll happily talk it through.

Why not just buy one from the chemist?

Boil-and-bite mouthguards work, but they fit poorly, fall out during contact, and most kids stop wearing them. A custom guard fits like a glove, stays put, and is dramatically more protective in a real impact.

Which sports need a mouthguard?

Anything with contact or hard objects in flight, rugby, AFL, hockey, basketball, boxing, martial arts, cricket (batting and wicket-keeping). Worth wearing for skating, BMX and skateboarding too.

How often do they need replacing?

Kids grow out of them in 12 to 18 months. Adults usually get 3 to 5 years out of one if it's well looked after. Bring it to your check-up and we'll let you know when it's time.

Can I get one in club colours?

Yes, most colours and combinations are available. Just bring a photo or tell us the team and we'll match it.

Do they cover braces?

Special orthodontic guards are made to fit over fixed braces and accommodate tooth movement. Tell us if you're mid-orthodontic, we'll make the right type.

Are they covered by health funds?

Most extras policies cover custom mouthguards. We'll quote any out-of-pocket and process the claim on the spot.
